Frequently asked questions about our admissions tests

How should I prepare for the tests?

Please choose a time when you will not be disturbed as you can take the test only once, and you must do it in one sitting.  When taking these tests you must not use any outside help (such as other people, textbooks, notes, internet, etc). This is a test of your ability.

What sort of questions will I be asked in the tests?

The selection tests are designed to test your knowledge and skills in the core academic areas of your chosen degree programme. We have provided some sample questions below.

When will I have to sit the test?

If you are contacted by us to take the selection tests, you will be able to take the test online at any point in the 30 days following receipt of the email containing your login details to the testing systems.

How many questions are in the test?

  • Biology Test:  25 questions
  • Chemistry Test:  30 questions
  • Maths Test:  20 questions
  • Physics Test:  20 questions

 

How long will the test take?

  • Biology Test:  120 minutes
  • Chemistry Test:  120 minutes
  • Maths Test:  90 minutes
  • Physics Test:  120 minutes

What equipment do I need to have when I take the tests?

These tests are online, so you will require a device to complete the tests. We recommend you have a pen, paper and calculator ready when you sit the tests.

What if I don't know all the answers?

We know that some of the questions may be about topics that you have not covered at school. Please do not worry about this – just do the best that you can on the questions that you have covered.

What happens if I have technical issues during the test?

If you have technical issues while taking the test, please close all your browser windows, then reopen them and try to log in again. If this does not restore your session, you should contact us on the relevant email address which will have been sent to you with your test instructions.

How do I find out my test scores?

Following completion of the test(s), we will email the results and the outcome of your application to you.
