Academic Affairs

Working closely with the College’s Dean of Learning and Teaching, Dean of Students/PGR, Dean of Quality Assurance and the College Academic Misconduct Officer (CAMO), the Academic Affairs team supports Schools with the management of academic governance procedures for on-programme students.

The Academic Affairs SharePoint Intranet provides School staff and students with information and guidance relating to College procedures, including templates and forms:

Academic Affairs remit

  • supporting the development and implementation of College strategy relating to Learning and Teaching, Postgraduate Research, and the student experience
  • providing secretariat support to College academic committees (Learning and Teaching Committee, Researcher Training Committee, Curriculum Approval Board, Quality Assurance Committee, and Library Committee)
  • overseeing quality assurance and enhancement processes for College programmes
  • supporting curriculum development and approval procedures
  • managing and supporting academic governance procedures – including: concessions, Leaves of Absence (LoA), Authorised Interruptions of Studies (AIS), programme changes/degree transfers, exclusions, extensions, academic misconduct, Code of Student Conduct, Support for Study
  • overseeing School and College compliance with UKVI requirements for international students on Tier 4 visas
  • hosting forums, briefing sessions and other events for Schools to provide updates, share good practice and facilitate networking
  • coordinating representation on and feedback to Senate Committees; disseminating policy and regulatory information, and supporting Schools with implementation
