Inclusion winners at College's inaugural Staff Awards

Three College colleagues were named winners at the College of Science and Engineering's very first Staff Awards celebration.

Al Spratt (College Office), Charlotte Desvages (Mathematics) and Abby Cabrelli (Biological Sciences) were unveiled as the three winners in the Inclusion category at the College's inaugural Staff Awards on 5 December 2024.

They were awarded their prizes by CSE Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager Jenni Sarafilovic and Dean of Systematic Inclusion Professor Karen Halliday.

The winners were nominated by fellow colleagues and voted by a panel of judges as the most deserving candidates to receive the award.

Al has organised and participated in numerous events and initiatives that highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion, helping to create a more equitable and inclusive community. His impact extends beyond individual support, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the entire community.

Across a broad range of communities Charlotte has encouraged the embedding of inclusive practice in all parts of university life. To name a few, this includes running CPD for PGR tutors, championing gender neutral toilets at Kings, and helping found the Maths & Physics Neurodiversity Network.

Abby has set up a weekly breakfast club at Biology. In addition to pastoral support and community building it provides students with support through the cost of living crisis, allowing them to regularly get a free breakfast in School.

Congratulations to all three winners and to everyone else who contributes to improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the College.
