EDI summer intern investigates Widening Participation provision

The College recruited a summer EDI intern to investigate Widening Participation provision.

This summer, CSE recruited a number of student interns through the Employ.ed on Campus programme, including an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion intern. Abbie Mayor, the successful candidate for this internship, designed a research project that evaluates the existing Widening Participation (WP) provision to which CSE students have access and which seeks to better understand WP student experience.

Abbie’s project contributes to a College-wide review of strategies to promote recruitment, progression, support and inclusion for WP students, and it will identify possible opportunities for strategy development to better address student needs.

The research focuses on WP students’ options, both within and outside academia, following the completion of their undergraduate studies, and the support received in considering such options and in navigating the transition to postgraduate study or professional life. Abbie is interested, however, in exploring the experiences of as many WP students as possible, at different stages of their studies, and welcomes participation from all WP students. Further information about Abbie’s project, as well as participation eligibility, can be found on this page, along with a form via which potential research participants can indicate their interest.
