College launches new EDI Action Plan

The College of Science and Engineering has launched a new 5-year EDI Action plan.

The first College EDI Strategy, launched in 2021, outlined shared objectives among our schools and facilitated a cooperative approach to EDI. The new 5-year EDI action plan aligns with School/Centre priorities, the College Strategic Plan, and the University’s Strategies for Equality and Diversity, and Widening Participation. The plan was developed in consultation with School/Centre EDI Directors, Professional Services EDI leads, representatives for Widening Participation, and EUSA Sabbatical Officers. It has undergone an Equality Impact Assessment and feedback has been sought from the Disability and Learning Support Service and staff networks.

Importantly, the 2025-2030 Action Plan signals an operational pivot towards mainstreaming. This approach seeks to incorporate EDI principles throughout the College's operational, cultural, and decision-making processes and builds on some great work already taking place across our College and in our Schools. I am truly excited by our programme which aims to dismantle structural barriers, and to foster an equitable culture that embraces diverse experiences and perspectives.
